Hey all,
I would like to take the time to inform you all that an article category policy will be implemented here on Walking With Wikis. Thanks to Spinosaurus Andrewsi Robertsonia over on the Jurassic Park Wiki for bringing this issue up, I have noticed that many of the articles on here are cluttered with a bunch of article categories, some of which serve no good purpose or are made redundant by another similar category. Therefore, this article category policy aims to address this issue and decrease the category bloat that affects many articles here on the wiki.
Categories are meant to organize similar pages and serve as a navigation tool for readers, but most of the time, they just serve as large blocks of text that take up space at the bottom of articles. Therefore, by standardizing what categories can or can't be used on the wiki, it will not only decrease category bloat but also make wiki navigation more user-friendly.
It's still a work in progress, but I have already listed the categories that may be used on most of the major article types (i.e., creatures, episodes, series). You can find it here at the bottom of the manual of style, and if you have any suggestions, you can reach out to me or Eren Freeman via our message walls. Thank you.
– Antiliun
Edit: As of December 7, 2023, the category policy will no longer reside at the bottom of the manual of style. Instead, it will be on a page of its own, which can be found under the Useful Links tab in the Community dropdown tab.
