Corythosaurus, (Corinthian lizard due to the shape of its head crest), was a lambeosaurine hadrosaur from North America. It was more closely related to Parasaurolophus than to Anatotitan or Saurolophus.
Facts
At about 9.5–10 m in length and 4 m high, Corythosaurus was a typical duckbilled dinosaur of late Cretaceous. Its trademark crest was shaped like a helmet, rather like a horn as in case of Parasaurolophus, but otherwise the two dinosaurs were very similar - both were medium-sized dinosaur herbivores that were prey for theropod dinosaurs of their time, and also for giant crocodilians. Also, they were possibly herd animals, but contrary to some of their earlier depictions, they weren't aquatic, and when cornered, would try to flee rather than hide in water.
