Platecarpus is a rather small mosasaur being only 4 meters in length and being a rather slow swimmer.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The depiction of Platecarpus in Walking With Dinosaurs: The Official Sticker Album is now considered inaccurate as a fossil specimen revealed that Platecarpus, as well as all mosasaurs, had a tail fluke rather than the eel-like body plan that they were thought to have had. Also, in 2014 it was revealed that mosasaurs had a color pattern like leatherback turtles.
